So first you apply online, then there's an initial screening, could be recorded questions like 'tell me about yourself' or 'what tools have you used?' Then, they might give you a skills test or scenario questions, like dealing with customers using a CRM. After that, there's a final interview, sometimes live video. If you get the job, there's onboarding and training, and then for many jobs, you get matched with a client or project before you really start working.

Technical Presentation

I interviewed online from Nairobi and passed. Then I went through the training and passed that too, and the training team was excellent: supportive, organized, and genuinely invested. But after the training, there was radio silence about client pairing. I waited four months. During that time, I did ten client demos, all on time, prepared, polished, and professional. Still, no pairing, no project, and no explanation. I just got recycled lines like “we’re working on it,” while designers from elsewhere got paired within weeks. It seems their clients aren't hiring African designers, which suggests bias rather than skills or readiness. So, if you're considering quitting your job for this 'global opportunity,' don't. The training is real, but the pipeline isn't; it's a waiting room disguised as inclusion.

Even though I didn't get the job, I thought the interview process with TalentPop was pretty straightforward, professional, and organized. They let me know about each step beforehand, and it was clear what they were looking for. Getting updates and feedback on time was really appreciated, making me feel respected and that it was a fair process overall.

During the application process, I was asked to submit my system specifications. I was then invited for an interview, only to be rejected because of my system specifications, which I don't think are that bad. It's frustrating to be invited for an interview after they already had this information, just to use it as a reason for rejection. The recruiting process was disappointing.
