First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Talent Inc..
Resume Writer
They reached out for what I thought was an interview to discuss my experience, but it turned out to be a brief call where they outlined the hiring process. Following that, I received a sample resume assignment. The assignment included style guides for formatting, but not for writing. If you don't already know their preferred style, you'll have to make an educated guess, as there are various theories on resume writing. Ironically, the formatting guide itself wasn't well-formatted. They offer pay comparable to entry-level resume writers but expect candidates to already know their specific resume preferences. Therefore, this opportunity might not be suitable for individuals aiming to start their career as a resume writer but could be beneficial for those with some prior experience.
- Are you willing to complete this sample resume assignment?
Resume Writer
I did the first phone call screening, but I passed on the job because the pay was too low. They offer piecework pay, like $35-50 to write a resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile, with some chance for bonuses or better pay later on (which typically doesn't happen). They expect you to write a quality version of all three documents in 1.5-2 hours. I'm not sure what they consider quality, but a professional writer would never spend so little time on something so important to the client. The interviewer was nice and polite, and it wasn't their fault. Writers deserve better than these content mills treat them. There's a big quality difference between those who pay for professional writers and those who don't.
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
Marketing
The entire interview process was done over the phone, maybe because of my commute. I had 3 interviews in total – 2 with different marketing managers and 1 with the CMO. It took about 2 weeks from when I applied to when I accepted the offer. I then started the following week, which was agreed upon by both me and the company.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What are your career aspirations and what would be your ideal entry-level position?
Resume Writer
After sending in my application, I was sent a skills test to check my writing, analysis, and word processing skills. After I found out I passed, I set up a phone chat with a recruiter. We had a nice conversation, and they asked me a few things and then told me about the onboarding.
- Can you walk me through your writing process?
- How do you see this role fitting with your current schedule?
- What sparked your interest in this position?
