Interviews for Retail Store Manager are a two-step process. The first step is with the District Manager and their peers. If you pass the first process, the second step is with the Market Director. If you pass the second, you’re most likely receiving an offer. The first interview is your standard set of interview questions. The second interview is more situational based and how you’ll run the business once given the position.

Behavioral Case

It was a 3 round interview process, you know, each round getting a bit more senior. The questions were all behavior-based. They really wanted to hear about actual situations, good and bad. Make sure to use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for your answers. They especially liked it when you talked about what you learned and how you'd handle similar things in the future.

They found my resume on a job board and reached out. We scheduled a phone interview, but they had to cancel and reschedule. The interview went well, and I got an email to follow up. I called and left a voicemail. Ten days later, they called back, saying they were interested but had to wait for someone to be in town and would get back to me. After a couple more weeks, I got a call for a one-on-one interview. That also went well, and the hiring manager indicated interest and promised to schedule another interview in a few days. A week passed with no contact, so I called them. They said they would schedule a further interview. That was two months ago, and I haven't heard anything since.
