Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at T.K. Maxx.
Retail Associate
The interview took about 30 minutes and the questions were pretty standard. I didn't even get an email about not getting the job. I had to check my account after waiting more than a week to find out. They didn't offer any feedback or call/email to explain why I was rejected, which was really disappointing.
- Can you tell me about your experience working as part of a team?
Store Associate
I felt very welcomed during my interview. The two managers I met were genuinely interested in my background and work history, which was reassuring. They used a questionnaire and took notes. They answered all my questions. They also highlighted the fast-paced nature of this role, emphasizing the need to handle and display a lot of stock quickly. About a week after the in-person interview, I got a phone call with an update and then an emailed offer.
- Can you describe a time when a customer was unhappy with the service or a product you provided?
- Do you have any problems with your current employer?
- Can you work in a fast-paced setting like this one?
Retail Associate
The interview process was easy. It was mostly scenario-based questions to check how well you can work in a team or with colleagues, how you've dealt with difficult customers or situations in the past, how you handle conflict, what your biggest struggle was and how you adapted to overcome it, and what your future career goals are. I was asked about 9 questions. Then they asked about my availability, branch preference, and preferred working hours. The scenario questions could be about anything in life, including school, habits, sports, clubs, or previous jobs.
- Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake and what you learned from it?
