Delivery Consultant
I got contacted on linkedin by a recruiter to interview with SEI. I went through 3 interviews and they all went well. But after the 3rd interview, I got an email from the HR partner saying the team didn't think the fit was there and they weren't moving forward. I've seen similar reviews about this company, and people think they have interview KPIs they need to hit. So basically, employees there just interview anyone and everyone to get their metrics up. Also, I asked for more details on why they felt the fit wasn't there and never got a response. On top of that, during the 3rd interview, I asked how far along we were in the process and the employee said about halfway done. They also mentioned there would be 2-3 more interviews followed by an in-person happy hour I would have to attend. All in all, I wouldn't recommend SEI and it's probably good things didn't work out.
- Describe a challenging situation you encountered, your approach to resolving it, the outcome, and any alternative actions you might have taken.
Business Technology Consultant
I had an extremely negative interview experience with SEI, and am so happy to have stayed at my current company in lieu of being poached to work for an organization that actively avoids hiring minorities. If you are a woman or POC, don't even bother applying. This company does not value diversity of background, education, or frame of thought. They only want to hire you if you are a white man in your 40s. Take a look at everyone that works for this company in the greater Boston area on LinkedIn. They have about 1 woman that is a person of color, and a few women, but every else you look is a sea of white. Where's the diversity? Additionally, I know a few people that made it further in the interview process, received offers, and are employed at SEI that have less education and experience (i.e. no Masters or graduate work and less # of years of experience) that other applicants, including myself. This company just wants to hire their brother's cousin, neighbor's best friend, and any other white men they can find.
- How would you approach a finance-focused project at SEI if you don't have prior financial services industry experience?
Business Technology Consultant
They call it a gauntlet because it's common for applicants to meet with about 6 SEI employees during the interview process. They are nice and friendly. They ask different questions to learn how you handle workplace challenges, what your past experience has been, and what you enjoy doing outside of work. The first few interviews are over the phone, then they are in person at coffee shops or restaurants.
- How would you go about a project to learn about the current issues within the system/process and to get approval for implementing a new system?
