First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sysmex.
Engineering Intern
First up was a video call where we chatted about the role itself, the internship facilities in Kobe, and different teams. We covered why you picked this gig, your technical background, your interest in Kobe, Japan, and if you'd looked into any of the company's research.
- What made you decide on the engineering internship?
- Can you walk us through your technical background?
- What draws you to Kobe, Japan?
Sales Representative
Had a phone call with HR, pretty casual. Then an in-person meeting with HR and the department head, also casual and relaxed. Next, another in-person chat with HR, the CEO, and the supervisor, where everyone tried to be the funniest. Finally, they presented the contract.
- Tell me about your goals and where you see yourself heading?
Sustainability Analyst
So, I had two interviews in total. The first one was online, lasted about 45 minutes. The second one was in-person and went for 1.5 hours. A big part of the second interview was a presentation I had to give to three people: the HR Manager, the Business Manager, and the Operations Manager. They asked a lot of questions, but they were all pretty much on point for the job.
- Can you discuss your background?
- Tell me about your achievements.
- Describe your roles.
Clinical Informatics Specialist
So I had a 30 minute screening phone call first. Then, they set up 4 video interviews with 4 different people, and it all went for a little over 3 hours. They mentioned there would be more interviews, so it would take a few weeks to get a decision. But, I never heard back from Sysmex. No rejection email, and the job site status just said 'application received'. I kept checking, and over a year later, I guess they finally updated my status to not selected. It felt really disrespectful to go through that whole process and then not get any communication, and their HR is super slow to update things.
- Can you share your experience dealing with or how you would manage a frustrated customer?
