The overall interview experience was good. The recruiter gave a good overview of the role and the company. There were a standard 4 rounds of onsite interviews. The interviewers were very comforting, and it never felt like an interview. The coding exercises tested frontend basics, d3 knowledge, and react knowledge. The next 2 rounds were with the manager and director, which gave me a good idea of the kind of work I would be expecting. Both were pretty technical and asked the right questions for the role. The recruiter kept me in the loop after each step and provided quick turnarounds. Initially, I was rejected for the position, and I was given good reasons for it. After about 3 weeks, I was contacted again by the same recruiter asking if I was still interested, and they directly gave the offer.

A recruiter reached out to me first, and after I responded, I had an initial non-technical phone conversation with another recruiter. They seemed really focused on my years of React experience, and apparently, my answer wasn't satisfactory because I was told they weren't moving forward. This is what happens when non-technical recruiters do phone screens.

I applied to Sysdig through an employee referral for a front end software engineering role in June 2018 at their San Francisco office. The whole process went really smoothly, took about two weeks, and they kept me well-informed the entire time. Everyone I met was easy to talk to and really down-to-earth. Unlike other companies that focus heavily on algorithmic problem-solving, Sysdig's interviews were very practical and focused on real-world scenarios. Since it was a front-end role, the main focus was on javascript, so brushing up on the fundamentals was super helpful. I had one phone screen and then an on-site interview where I met several team members. Because some of the team is remote, a few of those on-site interviews were done over Zoom. I felt really comfortable throughout the process and it gave me a great impression of the company. I'm happy I accepted the offer and am glad to be here.
