First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Synopsys.
Verification Engineer
It was a very technical interview focusing on communication systems and digital design. Make sure to prepare for questions about CDC and Clock Skew. Also, really study what you put on your CV because they'll ask for every detail, even stuff that isn't directly related to the job.
- Could you explain your university projects in detail?
- Tell me about your experience with communication systems.
- Describe your knowledge of digital design principles.
Digital Verification Engineer
Recruited via a LinkedIn post, my resume was shortlisted. After a couple of days, they scheduled a technical interview, followed by an HR round. Then, there was a 12-month internship offer with a 38k stipend.
- Can you explain mod counters, and synchronous versus asynchronous counters?
- What is the difference between blocking and non-blocking assignments?
- Tell me about randomization in verification.
Design Verification Engineer
I interviewed for the verification domain at Synopsys, Bangalore. I got the call from the HR in mid-July. The first level interview (telephonic) was conducted the very first day and lasted for 45 minutes. The second level interview was scheduled for two days later, but the interviewer didn't show up on time due to work. I informed the HR, and she rescheduled it for the next day. However, the interviewer bailed again. The last communication I received was that the position was put on hold. It's frustrating when companies don't respect candidates' time and effort.
- Can you explain your understanding of UVM concepts?
- What are your thoughts on SV concepts?
