The hiring manager and team seemed out of sync with HR. The job description was a bit misleading, and HR didn't really know the role, focusing too much on certain buzzwords. Even though I was a good fit (80%), HR kept harping on one optional requirement that wasn't even listed as mandatory. They also started talking about how their startup was better than a previous company I worked at, when it looked like they were understaffed given their product line.

I went through 3 days of interviews with 4 different people. The questions were of average difficulty. They briefly discussed salary in the first interview. I was offered the job, but the base salary was $13k lower than we discussed, and it was a completely different pay band. I tried to negotiate to at least match my current pay, but then there was silence for two weeks. Finally, I got a generic email from Dayforce saying they weren't moving forward. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell me directly.

It was a 4 stage interview process, and took about a month to get through it all. First was a quick phone call with some pop quiz questions on regulatory knowledge and my past work. Then, I had a small regulatory assignment where I was given some product brochures and asked to classify them in major markets, justify my answers, and propose a regulatory strategy for each region. I also had to submit a sample of my previous academic writing or a submission to a regulatory authority. After that, I had an in-person interview with the Director and HR. It was a standard interview, a bit competency-based, focusing on my knowledge and experience with specific regulatory scenarios and product submissions. It felt a little intense. The last stage was an in-person interview with the VP of Regulatory, which was completely competency-based and very relaxed.

I spoke with HR first, then had an hour-long call with the hiring manager. After that, I had a one and a half hour call with the manager and two other people. For this call, I had prepared a 10-minute presentation as requested. Finally, I had a 30-minute call with the director of sales. They mentioned that the next step would be an offer, and I should expect an email within a week. It's now been 5 weeks, and I haven't heard anything, despite sending 4 follow-up emails. The company has cool technology, but their organization and management are really lacking.
