First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SynapseFI.
Marketing
I went through a few rounds where they asked good questions about my hard and soft skills. I also got to know more about the company culture, and the people I met seemed really smart and nice. It felt like a good team to be a part of.
- Could you describe a past campaign you worked on?
Software Engineer
So, the first couple of interviews went pretty well. It started with an intro chat with HR, then a coding assessment and a system design discussion with two engineers. I was told the team was keen on moving forward and HR set up another interview. I didn't get any info on the type of round or who would be interviewing me. I tried emailing them a bunch, but no response. So, I ended up going into this interview totally unprepared and with no clue what it was about. Then, I got rejected after that round, and still no feedback even after I sent tons of emails.
- Solve a basic logic problem using Python.
- Discuss questions related to APIs.
Backend Software Engineer
Applied in summer 2019. I had a terrible experience. After the initial screen, they sent over a coding challenge/project. The task was to create an application that connected to their API and they said to expect to spend 40 hours on it. I did exactly that, submitting a full stack application running on docker containers, that offered services hitting 10+ API endpoints of theirs. They turned around to say that my submission was so different from what they were expecting that I should add another 40 hours of work to it and resubmit. At that point I relayed that I felt I'd submitted more than enough for them to judge me as a candidate for an interview and withdrew my name from consideration.
- Can you tell me about a recent project you worked on?
Compliance Analyst
I applied on the website and then heard back from the recruiter via email. We set up a 30-minute pre-screen call for about a week later. Then, I had a 45-minute in-person interview with the recruiter and the Compliance Lead, followed by coffee with another compliance team member. About a week later, I got an informal offer by email. We had a phone chat about some of the offer terms, and I got the formal offer a couple of days after that. The whole thing, from applying to the offer, was under a month, even with the holidays. It was a good experience.
