First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Synapse Marketing Solutions.
Graphic Designer
The first step was a phone call. Strangely, the interviewer was not prepared and I had to call them. They ended up interviewing me for a role I didn't even apply for. In hindsight, I should have withdrawn my application then.
- Have you worked on graphics for marketing campaigns before?
Front End Web Developer
First I had a phone interview, and then I went in for an in-person interview. We talked about my technical skills and how I work with a team. After they got enough info, I met with the owner and president to see what they thought. It was a pretty good experience overall.
- What languages do you know, and to what extent do you know them?
Web Designer
I had one interview with Synapse. Most communication before the interview was via email. During the interview, the owners spent more time talking about their company, employees, and awards and trying to sell the job to me rather than asking proper interview questions. Salary and benefits weren't discussed or negotiated. They didn't really pay attention to the skills and info I gave during the interview after hiring. Two days later, I got a job offer as a Word doc via email. I was pressured to accept immediately without getting proper time to give my previous employer two weeks' notice and wasn't given adequate time to review the offer. They used pressure tactics. The interview was pretty casual and happened on a Sunday morning. Some employees were at the office then, which was a red flag about the work schedule.

Content Strategist
I had a couple of chats with two executives about the job and how they operate as a company. It was a really nice, friendly conversation, and I felt like I could fit in with them. However, the main reason I decided against it was their work-life balance, which wasn't what I was looking for. From what I gathered, they have to work overtime due to deadlines pretty often, similar to most marketing agencies, and that wasn't ideal for me at the time.
