Behavioral Presentation

It was a STAR interview process. Started with a recruiter call, then I met with the VP of Sales, followed by the COO, and then an AE. The final round involved presenting to the COO, AE, and VP about one of their student services products, Accommodate.

I was contacted by HR via LinkedIn and then had a ~30 minute interview with the recruiter. After that, there was a technical test with the Brazil team, which involved a live coding session. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected after that.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

First interview was with Symplicity Recruit. The recruiter seemed to emphasize 'high energy' but then I had a Zoom with a really lethargic manager. He misused basic sales terms and didn't ask any good questions. Honestly, I felt like I knew more about his company than he did based on my research. I passed this first stage. Next, I met with a peer Account Executive who was pretty cool and upfront about competitor issues. It was helpful because it gave me an idea of how I could contribute. The third interview was supposed to be a 'presentation'. When I asked the manager about it, the email just said 'Just something 10-20 minutes. You'll be fine.' So, I prepped and presented, but the feedback was 'I didnt ask insightful questions.' The VP was late and seemed out of touch, not even understanding the difference between sales discovery and a presentation. It felt like a waste of prep time. There were a lot of warning signs from the earlier interviews that I overlooked because I was really interested in the job. Then, they went ghost. I can usually accept ghosting early on, but after putting in the effort to do a presentation (even though they expected a discovery call) is just not cool.

Technical Coding

I applied online. They skipped the phone interview and called me directly to the office for an on-site interview. They asked basic programming questions, went over my resume and experience, and gave me some coding exercises. It all seemed to go well. I was selected for the last round, which was a take-home assignment. I finished the assignment within 24 hours and sent it back. It met all the requirements. However, after 7 days, I still hadn't heard back from the recruiter. Then I got a rejection with no explanation. I don't think there was anything wrong with my assignment. They probably found someone cheaper. It was very unprofessional not to give any reason, either over a call or email. It felt like a waste of my time since I did everything right and still didn't get an offer.
