First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Symphony Corporation.
Intern
The interview process is going really well for new applicants. The staff are very professional and friendly, but the questions are a bit harder than average. Everything was on time, and if they like you, they'll send an offer right after the interview.
- Can you tell us about yourself, why you're interested in this company, and what areas you think we could improve?
- Tell me about yourself, why this company, and what improvements you suggest.
- What are your thoughts on how this company could be improved?
Statistician
The interview process involved a lot of detailed questions about my resume, which was unexpected because I had done a lot of homework on their company. The questions weren't generally difficult, but they were very specific about my resume. The interviewer wasn't very nice; they seemed to be searching for something at the beginning and responded negatively to my answers, asking things like 'huh, that's what you did? nothing more?'. For a client-based project, if it ends, it ends, so I wasn't sure what else they expected.
- Can you explain statistical modeling?
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 rounds which were all technical. The first round had a Senior Software Engineer asking general questions about Core Java, J2EE, and previous project work. The second round was a mix of technical and managerial questions, covering general questions about previous work and collections. The third round was also technical and managerial, focusing on general questions about previous work. After that, HR called me for salary negotiation.

Violin Seat
I got there and had to wait outside for quite a while before the door was opened. It was half past the interview time when we were let in. It didn't feel super competitive in the waiting area, everyone was pretty friendly. I was the second to last person to go in. Once I was in the room, the concertmaster and the principal second violin listened to me play.
