I went through three phone interviews. They were pretty straightforward, mostly about my background and why I wanted the job. Then there was a technical interview that I wasn't expecting, but I managed it okay and got a third interview. I also had to do an Excel assignment where I had to use pivot tables, make graphs, and figure out things like click-through rate and impressions. After the last interview, I was told to reach out to HR about what's next, which I did. No reply. I followed up again two weeks later and still nothing. It's really unprofessional because they were super responsive before. I put a lot of time into the interviews and the spreadsheet, so I at least expected a quick automated message saying they chose someone else.

Applied online. Connected with a recruiter and then had a phone screen. After that, I had a call with a lead developer. Then, there was an in-person interview with multiple team members. Finally, I was given a code test that wasn't too difficult. I wanted to share some feedback about the recruiting process - the recruiter was very unresponsive and unprofessional after deciding to go with another candidate, requiring me to chase her for an update. She was supposed to update me on Monday but I didn't hear back until Wednesday and then again on Friday evening. She eventually said they hired a senior developer instead of two mid-level roles, suggesting they might have been waiting for that person to accept before letting us know. Despite this, the engineering team I met seemed great and knowledgeable.

I had two phone interviews. First, I spoke with the recruiter who told me a lot about swirl and the job, and answered my questions. She was nice and made me feel comfortable, unlike some others I'd talked to. She asked questions to understand my background and what I was looking for. Then, I spoke with someone from the strategy team who asked more specific questions about my work. I got an offer from another company after the second call, but I'm still in touch with the people at Swirl because I enjoyed our conversations and their approach to getting to know candidates.

The interview process took about 3 1/2 weeks, mostly because I wasn't in San Francisco at the time. It started with a phone call, kind of a pre-screening to get to know each other and ask standard questions, but it was a good conversation. Then there were three more interviews over Skype with five people from Swirl, including the President and CO-CEO. The interviews and Skype calls were great; they explained the EA's different responsibilities really well. It felt comfortable, and I got a good sense of the team I'd be working with.
