Intern
I had a virtual video interview where I was asked some basic questions in both Mandarin and English, and also completed a survey. After that, I had an HR interview. I was happy to get an offer and I'm excited to join the team and contribute to the company.
- What motivates you to join our company?
- Can you describe your past experiences?
Director of Analytics
I went through an interview process that raised some serious concerns. Over several days, I spoke with around 10 people and traveled to Draper for in-person meetings. Throughout the process, I was repeatedly asked to outline how I would approach their challenges and implement modern solutions. It became clear they were more interested in gathering ideas than in genuinely evaluating me for the role. After sharing detailed strategies and insights, I was rejected with a vague excuse about "role alignment."
- Could you suggest ways to simplify reports and reduce visual clutter for more user-friendly and actionable Power BI dashboards, and what are the best modern visualization techniques to use?
- What strategies would you propose for modernizing our BI infrastructure and data models to boost performance and scalability in Power BI?
- How should we go about modernizing our BI infrastructure and data models for optimized performance and scalability in Power BI implementations?
HR
I applied online and had some confusing back-and-forth with recruiters who didn't seem organized. I got a phone interview, then a virtual one. The interviewer seemed distracted and wasn't engaged, not really listening. They mentioned an in-person interview within a week, but then I heard nothing, and my follow-ups were ignored. Eventually, I got a generic rejection email saying they chose someone else. It felt like they weren't genuinely interested in my background or how I could fit the role. I usually don't leave reviews, but this was a pretty negative experience all around.
- Can you describe a time you had to handle a specific situation and how you approached it?
Merchandiser
The interview process with Mr. Queen was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the role. He was available to answer questions and address concerns. However, the company they use for drug testing reported a false positive for THC, despite not having used it in over 5 months and not being around it. The company doesn't allow for second opinions on this. I'd advise anyone considering this company to be aware of this potential outcome, as it could be a waste of time.
- Assess your knowledge level.
- Determine the amount of training needed.
- Evaluate your ability to learn basic processes.
