I talked to some people for this role, but had to reschedule a few times. Some of the interviewers seemed a bit out of it. One meeting that was supposed to be 45 minutes ended early after 30 minutes. After finishing the interviews and not hearing back for a couple of weeks, I followed up to see what was going on with the role and asked for some feedback. Eventually, I got a generic rejection email from an automated system. It was surprisingly difficult to get a simple 'no' from a real person.

The recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn about an Account Manager/Supervisor role, which was unexpected since I hadn't applied. She scheduled our first two interviews but missed both, leaving me waiting on Zoom calls, which required me to take time off work. She apologized, but it was frustrating. After what I thought was a good interview where she promised to set up a follow-up with the hiring manager that same afternoon, she disappeared. I sent a follow-up email an hour later and checked in several more times with no response. I assume they moved on with other candidates, but the lack of clear communication and follow-through is telling. This might be due to her not having enough support or the company not valuing candidates' time.

I applied to a few associate-level jobs at Swift over a few months. I applied to the producer role twice, with six months between applications. The second time I applied, I got a phone interview. I was initially confused because the recruiter didn't call me at the scheduled time. Instead, I got an email asking where I was. I replied that I was ready, and she curtly told me to call her, which was weird because the calendar invite had no instructions. After some back-and-forth emails, she finally called 15 minutes late. I apologized for the mix-up, but she insisted the instructions were in the invite, even though mine was blank. This whole thing made me seem disorganized from the start, even though it wasn't my fault. The interview immediately jumped into questions without any pleasantries. She first asked why I applied for the producer role, but then clarified she meant why I applied for THIS specific role, noting I'd applied for jobs in different departments and wanted to understand my focus. I explained that my current agency is smaller and we're generalists, doing a bit of everything, and that I applied for roles at the same seniority level that best fit my experience. She didn't seem convinced, so she asked me to detail the differences between the three roles I'd applied for. I thought I answered this well, but she was very curt. Then she asked, 'Of all the jobs you've applied for, which one do you actually want the most?' This felt like a strange question, especially since some of those roles were no longer open, and it felt like she was implying I'd wasted their time. I said I was passionate about production, but she wasn't buying it either. I felt like I spent the whole 30 minutes defending myself. I knew I wouldn't hear back, and I got an automated rejection a couple of weeks later.

I interviewed three times at Swift before accepting an offer. Each time I went in, I fell more in love with the people and the culture. Both HR and the head of the Planning department were very thoughtful about making sure the open position was a good fit for both the team and for me. This is why the process took so long; we were both waiting for the perfect opportunity. Once it presented itself, I had come to know the people at Swift very well, so they didn't hesitate in extending an offer to me and I didn't hesitate to accept it.
