First, check for an internal posting on the company website. Once it's posted, fill out an internal application and get signatures from your Store Manager and District Manager before sending it to Corporate. HR will then call to confirm receipt of your application and schedule an interview within a few weeks after the posting closes. The next step is a panel interview with the District Manager, Store Manager, and Assistant Manager of the store you're applying to. Be patient, they practically offered me the job during the interview, but it took a few months to get the official confirmation call from the District Manager about the promotion.

It took a few weeks to get an interview. 39 people interviewed for the position and the company ended up hiring a person from another store. The store manager did the interview and it took about 30 minutes. The store manager did make mention that part time positions were available at the store in the beginning of the interview(didn't sound like a good sign).

The interview process was a panel style with several rounds. It included a prepared part before the interview. The panel members were the District Manager, Store Manager, and a Retail Support Associate. Before the interview, I was given a PnL for a location and had to create an action plan. During the interview, we did a full store walk, covering both the sales floor and the back room.
