First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Svitla Systems.
Senior Software Engineer
I was first contacted about a Sr Software Engineer role, with company info and salary details shared. I set up the initial HR interview, and after some standard questions, things looked promising. However, after three weeks without updates, I followed up and was then scheduled for a second interview. This one was more technical but manageable, and it also went well. Then, another three weeks passed with no news. They then reached out because a client was interested in my profile for a different position than originally discussed, but I decided to proceed. This involved another technical interview, which was a good conversation, though they did ask me to solve a problem on a new service they're developing, which felt a bit unusual. I inquired about the next steps, and after a week, still no response. When I followed up again on the next steps, they explained they were struggling to find clients willing to meet the initial salary offer. They mentioned they would share a new list of potential clients, and here I am, almost a month later, still waiting. I'd say HR has effectively 'ghosted' me at this point.
- Could you describe your current duties and what your typical day involves?
- Can you share an example of a difficult situation you faced and how you managed to get through it?
- What's your approach to handling secondary indexes for a DynamoDB table?
Software Engineer
The interviewer introduced himself and explained the interview thresholds, which was good. He was well-prepared with a list of theoretical questions and a short practical task. The interview finished on time, and I got to ask my questions too. The interviewer was taking notes, which I think shows seniority. After the interview, I got an email detailing my knowledge gaps, which was really helpful for later review. I appreciated that they avoided abstract questions like 'how many golf balls are in a school bus,' as that's not relevant to my role as a software developer.
- Can you explain the SOLID principles with real-world examples?
- Which GOF design patterns come to mind, and what was their purpose?
- What methods or tools do you employ for assessing code quality?
Software Engineer
First, I had a chat with the talent person, and then a technical discussion. Both were fully in English. In my opinion, they are very professional, and they answered all my questions and doubts.
- What is your desired salary?
- What are you looking for in your career?
- What do you like the most?
