First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sutro Biopharma.
Management
First, I heard from Sutro’s HR for a quick screening call about basic qualifications and if I was a good fit. Later, I had follow-up Zoom interviews with the hiring manager and team members. It felt conversational and collaborative. They asked about my experience with the role, how I’d handle situations, and how I could help them reach their goals.
- How would you go about selling an idea to upper management?
Intern
The whole thing took about 2-3 weeks, it wasn't too bad. The HR chat was fast, and a week later I had two technical interviews. They let me know their decision about a week after that.
- Could you describe the projects you've been involved in?
- What types of cell lines have you used in your work?
- How can you see yourself applying your experience with cell lines to this particular role?
Research Associate
Had about 4 rounds of interviews. I talked to the hiring manager first, then the director, and then there was a panel interview. Communication was easy, it wasn't hard. The hiring manager mentioned that the company culture really pushes employees to grow and learn more.
- Can you tell me about your research background?
Executive Director
It was a really long and disorganized interview process. Some people didn't even know about the interview or the role. The Clinical Operations team, which only had two people back then, were also quite inexperienced and unprofessional.
- Can you give a summary of your career history?
- Please summarize your skillset.
