Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SurveyMonkey.
Internship
The interview took 3 hours and I met with four different people. It was a really in-depth and tough experience for an internship. This was just the first part, and there were two more phone interviews to follow.
- Tell me about your experience in this field.
Intern
I went through a phone interview that was pretty short, and then a longer on-site interview that was a couple hours. The questions were pretty basic and varied in how hard they were. I finished up the interview with someone who was more focused on the HR side of things.
- Could you explain how to sort a list based on several different criteria?
- Can you describe some common data structures and algorithms?
- Tell me about your interests.
Intern
I had a general behavioral interview first, seeing if I was a good fit for the position. Then I had a technical interview with an engineer. The questions were clear and well thought out. She was knowledgable and was able to guide me when I asked questions. They asked specifically for me to use Python or Javascript, but also allowed me to use Java. Choice of language is important though, make sure to use what language they use.
