& Process

The interview process started with a chat with the CTO. He had this really old online IDE that he wasn't great with and asked me to come up with an inefficient solution to 'test my creativity'. After that, we moved on to System Design and behavioral interviews, which I felt I nailed. Everyone seemed a bit awkward, but they were nice. A really weird thing though, they mentioned they didn't have any women on the team and were trying to diversify but couldn't find the right people. This felt like a major red flag. Ultimately, they ghosted me after I followed up three times. Seriously, don't waste your time if they're this unprofessional.

I applied and sent my resume, and then a recruiter called me the next day for a quick 10-15 minute phone screen. After that, I had an in-person interview with the Sales Manager for about an hour. The next day, the recruiter set up a final interview with a Managing Partner. I got an offer letter the same day, so the whole thing was super fast, like half a week.

It started with a recruiter call, but they weren't very engaged. Then I talked to the hiring manager, who was barely visible on camera. She kept saying the company was 'recession-proof,' which felt odd. I was asked to do a project, which she liked, then a revised version, which she also liked. They ended up using my work and paid me for it, even giving it to their PR agency and a publication. Next, I met with a higher-up who was trying too hard to be unconventional and eccentric. He mostly wanted me to lead the conversation, asking what I wanted to know about him or the company, which felt like a test rather than a real discussion about my qualifications. Finally, I interviewed with two team members. They were nice but didn't ask much about my background or explain their roles or what they're looking for. Their talk was surface-level, and one had their camera off the whole time, not realizing it until the end. They seemed more focused on a culture fit than anything else, and I wasn't sure they liked me until a brief moment of shared laughter. It took a long time to get an update from the hiring manager after the project. I got an offer and accepted, but was laid off two months later, with them claiming I wasn't a good fit, which seemed contradictory given the long interview process and the project they used. The leads were unprofessional, the team was stretched thin, goals shifted, and the content marketing function wasn't great, with someone saying 'no one reads our content anyway.' Be very cautious interviewing here; trust your gut.

This was a really bad experience. Someone reached out about setting up a phone interview, but I had to chase them down twice before we could schedule it. I then had an in-person interview that seemed to go really well. They then invited me for a final interview with top management. After that last interview, I heard nothing back. I even tried to follow up for an update, but got no response. It was super unprofessional and they didn't seem to care about my time at all.
