It started with a chat with HR and then the hiring manager. I got an offer quickly after feeling good about both conversations. They also offered good training.

I went through 3 interviews with the company. The first was with a team member, the second with the director of the department, and the third with two team members who were in the same position as me. It all took about a month. The people I talked to seemed to really like their jobs, and I enjoyed interviewing with them.

Before applying, I check out the company online, including the CEO and top employees for diversity and accomplishments. I also review their work. This company did some good websites, though some writing was bad. I applied anyway. I had several phone interviews and two in-person interviews for content and customer support roles. After the second in-person interview, I was told someone would be in touch, but several months passed, possibly due to holidays and the last quarter. I applied for another content role, and the CEO invited me for a third interview, saying his assistant would contact me. After waiting a month with no contact, I emailed the assistant, who ignored me. This company is very disrespectful of people's time; I drove over four hours total. They never asked for a portfolio, which is surprising for a writing job. The first interview was casual with two team members. The second interview was with two other team members and a new manager, and it felt like a traditional, uncomfortable HR interview. I sent thank you letters, and only a female team member responded graciously, saying I'd hear from someone soon. The last phone interview with the CEO was mostly him talking. He asked my salary range (45-55k), stated that with five years of experience, it was entry-level, and entry-level employees get only one week off, plus health benefits. I have more than five years of experience, and he seemed to be minimizing it to justify poor benefits. After five months of waiting, I politely inquired with the CEO, who curtly stated I applied for three jobs and they were passing. He didn't understand why I felt strung along.
