Product Manager
Started with a quick 30-minute phone screen. Some of my questions about the job weren't answered 'cause the call was kinda rushed, but it was fine overall. Next up was a call with the hiring manager where they asked direct questions about my background. They ended the call saying they liked my experience and thought I'd be a good fit. After that, I got ghosted and never heard back.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
Product Manager
The hiring process was very slow, which felt like it reflected the company culture. They ultimately hired someone else because that person was further along in their hiring pipeline. I had initially spoken with the recruiter 7 weeks before, and then had to wait another 2 weeks for our 10-minute call. Following that, I spent several hours working on a case study. The subsequent meeting with the hiring manager was scheduled for 10 days after I submitted the case study, but they didn't attend the meeting. Two weeks after that, I was informed that the decision was very close, but they chose another candidate due to timing. It felt like a complete waste of time and showed a lack of respect for the candidate experience.
- Describe a situation where you demonstrated your product management abilities.
Product Manager
First, a 30-minute call with the Head of Talent to chat about the company and for them to get a feel for my background and career goals. Then, I got a case study homework assignment with 7 days to complete it. They evaluated it on product strategy, data analysis, and communication. They even mentioned giving feedback to those who didn't pass, which was a nice touch. Finally, a 3-hour on-site interview with several key people (Product & Engineering Leads, CEO, CTO, Head of Talent) to dive into my case study answers, my experience, and some standard behavioral questions. It was a mix of technical and non-technical questions. I had a chance to ask my own questions too. The whole process was quick and smooth, and I was impressed by the promptness of the Head of Talent in answering my questions between stages. It seemed like a team of skilled people.
- Can you describe a high-impact experiment you would propose?
