I saw all the reviews on glassdoor before taking the interview so I was pretty hesitant about the company. I took the interview to understand if any of those things were realistic and might change my interest. The recruiter sounded like he was reading off a script; it was very basic and clear they were looking for particular answers, and he didn't seem invested at all. Because of the seemingly toxic environment, I asked him about: work life balance, company layoffs, and team process. Mind you, its very clear from a lot of sources that the company has gone through COUNTLESS layoffs. But the recruiter straight up said they are in a "moment of explosive growth and everything is positive". Lol. Like you can be transparent about the layoffs and provide a definitive answer, not dodge answering me directly? Huge red flag. Pretty sure that means you hire a bunch to satisfy stakeholders and then fire again when things get volatile. He also said "everyone is happy and enjoys working here." Bro what does that mean? Even he sounded completely dejected and lifeless on the phone. He couldn't answer any questions in regards to how the product team operates, what they focus on and what responsibilities would be there. He explicitly says "We screen everyone and then decide if they belong one place or the other". I understand that works for them, but an interview is also for the person applying. I ALSO want to understand if I'm interested in working for your company, and if it makes sense for me. Interviews serve the interests of two people. After I started asking those questions it was pretty clear to me they wouldn't consider me for a second round, but it was entertaining to me to see their dodgy-ah responses. Its crazy that the toxicity surfaces the interview process as well, I'd stay away.

The interview process was really messed up and unprofessional, with interviewers and the whole setup being disorganized. Nobody was upfront, neither the hiring managers nor HR. I had a phone call interview and then a video chat with a hiring manager, and after that, I heard nothing for 3 months. Three months after my interview with the head of product, HR randomly called me asking if I was still interested in continuing. They tried to act like they hadn't ghosted me and that they had hired someone who didn't work out. When I pushed them a bit, HR finally admitted what happened.

The interviewer reached out for a phone call, and it was very easy to schedule. The conversation was simple and friendly. We set a date. Later, I spoke with other employees at the company, and they had so many good things to say that I decided to join. I'm still in the process.
