First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Super Color Digital.
Prepress Technician
I met with the department head, and they gave me a quick tour of the place. I also took a basic Adobe Illustrator test. We discussed my previous retouching experience and how to keep colors consistent across various platforms. They also brought up some people we both know. Afterward, they said they'd let me know how I did.
- Could you explain how to scale an object in Illustrator?
Project Manager
Had a phone interview first, then went through 2 face to face interviews. The interviews themselves were pretty standard. The managers seemed really into their work and were direct. HR, though, is super unprofessional, like others have said. After the 2 interviews, I didn't hear anything back. Trying to reach the HR department was a complete dead end. Even a basic form letter would have been something, but the total silence is just really frustrating.
- Can you tell me about your background and skills?
Prepress Operator
I applied through LinkedIn and got a call the same day to set up an interview. Honestly, the first impression wasn't great. When I got there, they just handed me an application and said someone would be with me. I tried to chat a bit to break the ice, but they just kept talking to a coworker and ignored me while I filled it out. That really made me feel like the workplace might be unprofessional. The first part of the interview went okay. I briefly saw someone from HR leaving, and then I met with the person who called me. The questions were pretty basic, mostly things we'd already talked about on the phone. They explained the role as a Prepress Operator with a potential promotion to Prepress Manager after a 90-day trial. Since I'm already in management, taking a step back for a potential promotion didn't feel right. The next part was a technical test on my computer software skills. I was on a Mac with a PC keyboard and a left-handed mouse, which made things awkward. I had to do a few things in Adobe Illustrator, which I did fine, but the computer setup slowed me down. There was a small issue with one of the tasks, and the interviewer kept pressing me on why I couldn't see it for a few minutes, which was super uncomfortable and reinforced my feeling that the environment was unprofessional and maybe even unhappy. I eventually saw the issue, but since Illustrator isn't my main software, I couldn't figure out how to fix it. The interviewer showed me, and then just ended the interview abruptly. I left realizing this wasn't a place I wanted to work. Even if it was just a couple of people who seemed unhappy and unprofessional, that vibe can really affect the whole company and how it seems to outsiders.
- Regarding software knowledge, what are the typical daily tasks for this role?
- Can you demonstrate your ability to perform specific actions within Adobe Illustrator?
Printer Operator
It was pretty chill, they asked me about my past jobs that were similar to this role and what I was looking for to see if I'd be a good fit. They also asked about my salary expectations.
- What are your salary expectations?
