HR reached out to set up a phone chat. It was pretty basic. Then the hiring manager called me for a more in-depth phone interview. A few days later, I got the offer.

The interview process for the Project Coordinator position with the Cancer Research team involved two sessions, the first virtual and the second in-person. The team was welcoming and asked insightful questions that I was prepared for. I was informed I'm the chosen candidate, but I'm awaiting HR's diversity checks before they extend the offer, which I expect to accept.

The first interview was a group interview, held on-site. Present were the department's Director, my direct supervisor for the role, and a senior project manager. After some initial introductions and getting to know each other, the interviewers asked prepared questions one by one. The questions were good, open-ended, and related to the job. The interview moved at a steady pace and felt business casual. It lasted a full hour. The Upstate team paid attention to my answers and asked relevant follow-up questions when needed. I got to ask my questions too and hear their answers. The interview concluded with clear information about what to expect next in the hiring process. Overall, it was a good experience.

It was a long process from applying to getting the offer. They didn't tell me the time frames upfront, which would have been good to know. But on the bright side, they didn't need multiple interviews because they scheduled it so everyone who needed to be there was there for the interview.
