First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SUNY Oneonta.
Student Services Coordinator
I didn't get to meet the hiring manager until the final round. Before that, none of the interviewers were from the actual department, so I didn't really learn about the team's culture or how they manage people until the very end.
- Can you identify three crucial components of interpersonal communication?
Student Services Center Coordinator
I had interview panels with lateral members from different collaborative departments, then an interview with the manager, and the last interview was with collaborative department heads. All interviews happened on the same day, one after the other.
- What makes you want to move on from your present role?
Residence Hall Director
For Residence Hall Directors, they skip phone interviews and go straight to an on-campus interview. It's all standard res-life questions.
- How would you handle a crisis situation?
- What's your approach to team building?
- Can you share your strategies for effective hall government?
Data Analyst
The first round was online with about 6 people. Then, there was an in-person round with 3 sub-rounds, followed by another round with the Director. Everyone was really nice. I felt I did well, but I never heard back about their decision, even after emailing them repeatedly for over two months.
- Do you have experience with visualization tools like Power BI?
