Director of Advancement
It can take a long time, sometimes months, to get through this process. You can expect a few phone calls, then a Zoom meeting, and finally an in-person interview. If you're fortunate, it might take around 2 months. It's going to take a while, and you'll be left hanging, so make sure to keep applying.
- Could you share your experience with me?
Programme Analyst
So I had this 4-hour interview which kicked off with a 30-minute programming test. After that, I met the search committee, about 5 people, who asked me questions one by one. Then, I had a session with the programming team where they hit me with more technical stuff related to the job. Later, I had a one-on-one with the programmer manager in her office. To wrap it up, I met with the CIO and the Director of Technology. Everyone was really nice and welcoming, which totally made the whole thing less stressful.
- Can you share an instance where a plan didn't work out? What did you do, and what would you change in hindsight?
General Staff
The interview process was efficient but thorough. They didn't waste my time as an applicant, but I also felt I was vetted well and got to fully show my qualifications, past experiences that fit the role, other skills, and things I wanted to emphasize. They answered my questions instead of dodging them, unlike some other places I've interviewed.
- Tell me about skills from your past jobs that are relevant to this position.
- Which of your previous career experiences make you a good fit for this role?
- What other skills do you have that would be useful here?
Global Engagement Manager
Applied in October, and after waiting until December, I had my first interview which was a phone screening with the search committee. Then I had a 4-hour interview on campus with the Global Ed department, the director of the department, the search committee, and a campus tour.
- Could you give us an overview of yourself?
- What is your approach to team communication?
- What draws you to a career in Higher Education?
