The hiring manager was great, and the office environment felt good. Everyone was respectful and seemed to know their stuff. Talking with the team was helpful for getting a sense of the office's vibe. The office itself was neat and modern, and the location was convenient.

I interviewed with the recruiter and the call went really well. They were excited about my experience but also wanted to confirm I understood this was for a new entry-level role they were creating. I expressed my enthusiasm for the opportunity to shape the role and was told I'd hear back within two days about the next steps. However, I heard nothing. A week and a half later, I received an email stating they had a great response, met super people like myself, and after an extensive review, had hired someone. It's disappointing when companies raise applicants' hopes like this, especially in the current job market.

So, I talked to the CTO initially. Honestly, it was a red flag. He was bragging about how he was hired to update the whole tech stack at Sunstate, which seems like overkill for a company in this business and scale. It felt like a waste of money and effort. I felt bad for the current engineers who'll have to deal with these huge changes and might get laid off later. The CTO's feedback was super unprofessional. Instead of just saying my skills didn't match, he insulted me, calling me a beginner trying to fake it. He clearly leads with ego, not compassion. He then asked me to explain my projects in detail, but he couldn't grasp what I was saying even when I simplified it multiple times. Like, what did he expect, for me to violate NDA? At the end, I politely wished him well, and he just gave a smug smile, waved, and looked at another screen. Seriously, tons of red flags. Don't waste your time interviewing here.

I had a phone interview that was about 10 minutes. The interviewer asked about my managing style and what I would do in certain situations. She didn't share much about the position and mentioned that other candidates were being interviewed and that I would be notified. When I asked about the timeline, she was vague.
