It was a straightforward interview, and they were good about answering my questions. It was virtual since the job is work from home. There were some situation-based questions. Overall, it was an average experience.

It was pretty easy and professional. Mostly just software development related chit-chat and some scenarios. Some questions were like, we have this problem, how would you design this? Others were more, we have this problem, how would you fix it on our existing architecture?

The interview process was pretty tough. My first interview was scheduled 3 hours away in Syracuse, NY. When I got there, through a snowstorm, the manager I was supposed to meet was on a conference call, so I had to wait about 45 minutes past my scheduled time. The interview itself went okay, but I didn't hear back for almost a month. Then, HR emailed to set up a second interview, which required me to travel to another state and stay overnight, as they needed to see me first thing in the morning. The next morning, I got to the building on time, but again, I waited almost an hour to meet with an upper-level manager. When I finally got in, the manager seemed impressed with my experience and presentation, but he was unsure if there would actually be a position available. Two weeks later, HR called to say the SVP had decided to pull the position, but they were all impressed and wanted to keep my information on file for future roles.

I interviewed with the owner and manager. They asked me basic questions about my available hours and I took a simple math test. They said I'd hear back in a few days, but the manager went on vacation, so I didn't get a call until the next week. When she returned, she called to offer me the job, checking if I was still interested.
