First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sunnyside Unified District.
IT Technician
Before the interview, there was a technical test that covered about five common user scenarios. The actual interview involved a panel of five IT leaders. Each person on the panel took turns asking technical questions.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to guide someone through troubleshooting an issue and how you ensured they understood your explanation?
Teacher
I reached out to the principal about potential job openings, then sent in my application. They contacted me for an interview a few days after I applied. I spoke with the principal and assistant principal. They asked me some questions provided by the district and some specific to the school. The interview was pretty laid-back, but they really wanted to see if I knew my stuff about teaching. I got a job offer a day or two after the interview.
- Can you describe the age group you'll be working with in one word and explain your choice?
Payroll Specialist
This was about the worst interview I've been to so far, back in October 2012. Two of the interviewers didn't even greet me or stand up to shake my hand, they just stared with blank expressions. The director made a point to sigh several times while I was answering their questions. It was a very unfriendly and unprofessional experience.
- What would you do in this and that situation?
- Can you explain the process involving a routing number?
School Employee
It was a panel interview with about 5 to 6 people on the panel. Everyone on the panel asked a question. There was no specific time frame to answer questions. Everyone was very friendly and I felt comfortable right away.
- Did you have work experience previously that would contribute to the job you were applying for?
