Research Assistant
We started with a quick call to screen everyone, then there was a panel interview with some team members, followed by a skills assessment to see what you can do, and finally, you met with the hiring manager to talk about fit and what's next.
- Can you tell us about your knowledge and availability, as well as your previous experience?
- We'd like to ask about your knowledge, availability, and experience.

When I got to my interview, I was told to go straight to the lab first, where I met with the other lab members "while I waited." Afterwards, I was brought to interview with the lead scientists who run the lab. I later found out that the initial visit to the lab itself was a secret interview, and if the lab members liked me, they would give a thumbs up (or down if they didn't) behind my back when they dropped me off with the scientists, and that heavily influenced my outcome.
- Do you have experience with SPSS?
- Could you explain what a Pivot Table is?

I sent my application via email over the weekend, and the main investigator got back to me the very next business day, which was Monday. We set up an interview for that Friday. The primary investigator, who was super nice, kind, and thoughtful during the whole thing, interviewed me. I was told I'd hear back from the PI at the start of the next week if I made it to a second interview. But I didn't get any word until the following Friday. Then, on that Friday, I got a thoughtful, personal email from the PI saying I didn't get the job. The PI also mentioned they were recommending me for another job a colleague was looking to fill and gave me some really good feedback.
- Can you tell me about your background with literature reviews?
- Do you know what PRISMA is?
- Have you used any meta-analytic software before?
