Behavioral Technical

Began with some really engaging and positive conversations that felt full of potential. It seemed like things were really picking up speed and we were headed for good things. But eventually, it all fizzled out and didn't amount to much. There wasn't any real follow-through, and the feedback I got wasn't specific or helpful enough to know where I stood or what I needed to work on.

Behavioral Technical

The hiring process was pretty quick, taking about 4 weeks in total. It started with a phone screen, then moved to Zoom and in-person interviews. I thought the hiring managers and dev lead were great – very professional, friendly, and engaging. They really made a good impression. The company feels like a cool startup. On the other hand, the HR interactions felt a bit fake and rehearsed, not really a deep or decisive conversation. Also, the process didn't have that spark or clear message about the company that gets you excited about what they're doing. For a company going public soon, they should probably have a more structured and serious hiring process to match their size and get the best people.

Technical Case

First, there was a screener with HR who gave a good overview of the company and the role. Then, I had a 45-minute call with the hiring manager. He started by giving some background on the team, then immediately jumped into a SQL exercise and some case questions. The SQL part was really basic. The case questions were all about Uber, not really related to lending or cards, felt like they came from a generic case interview book. Then, he suddenly asked if I had questions, and the interview was over. I didn't even get a chance to talk about my background. It seemed really unprofessional, like he didn't know how to interview.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Uber charges $3 per mile, with 80% going to the driver. If a driver's cost is $2000 for every 5000 miles driven, calculate the number of miles a driver needs to drive to achieve a net profit of $3000.
  • Uber provides a monthly bonus for drivers completing 10 rides, but the total number of rides has recently plateaued. Propose a method for investigating this situation.

Coding Technical Technical Behavioral

The whole process took about 1 month and had 4 parts: An Online Technical Interview with a coding challenge, a F2F Technical Interview focused on system architecture, an iOS Online Technical Interview specifically for iOS, and an HR online screening. I attended all of them. They're nice people, but it felt like they don't value candidates' time much. HR said I was declined due to technical gaps they were looking for, but then why have a final HR interview? It seems like they just wanted to keep potential candidates waiting.
