First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SunAmerica Financial Group.
Sales Representative
Super straightforward. I had one interview. Talked with both the manager and assistant manager. It's an entry-level gig, and they're open to training for licenses. Might not be for everyone, though. You don't get a salary at first; it's all commission-based.
- Can you introduce yourself?
IT Help Desk Technician
First, I had a phone interview just to see if I was interested. Then, I interviewed in person with the manager. The manager and recruiter seemed happy after that. A few days later, I interviewed with the team. Everyone was nice. The manager was concerned I might be overqualified, and I tried to show that wasn't the case. They said they'd let me know within a week. The recruiter was really unprofessional after the last interview, not replying to calls or emails. Finally, after three weeks, the recruiter told me they went with someone else. They didn't ask questions, just explained the job duties, how things work, current company issues, and if I could handle it.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Financial Advisor
I was contacted by a recruiter from a resume I posted on Monster. The first interview was over the phone with this recruiter. We just basically covered my resume and background. The next interview was also over the phone with another member of the talent acquisition team. It was more in depth this time but still basic interview questions. The third interview was an initial meet and greet with the District Manager of the Territory I would be working in. It was formal, but relaxed, more informational about the job, the territory, job expectations, etc. The final interview I had to bring a proposed business plan of how I would work the territory, bring in business, and answer indepth interview questions. By this time all background tests had been passed.
- Basic questions, unable to recall specifics.
- Can you present a business plan for the territory?
- How would you approach working this territory?
Service Center Associate
I sent in my resume and application. Then I got a call from HR. I answered some questions for about 15 minutes. After that, they set up an interview. I had my interview with two people. One of them seemed really checked out and cold, and I thought I totally messed up. Turns out that's just his interviewing vibe and everyone feels it. I got called back for two more interviews with my future manager and the VP. Those interviews went well, and they mainly wanted to see that I could interact well with people and wouldn't be a pain to work with.
- Can you provide several instances where you demonstrated critical thinking skills?
