First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sun Tan City.
Assistant Manager
It was a great interview process. They asked very direct and relevant questions, which made me feel very comfortable. I received a call about my first interview and to set up a second interview within just a couple of days. The second interview was just as smooth as the first.
- Could you explain why you believe you're a suitable candidate for this role?
Salon Director
I got called for an interview the day I applied. The first interview was about an hour and had 3 pages of questions. I was called back a week later for a second interview. They said my qualifications were a better fit for a higher position than the manager role I applied for. This interview was also about an hour long with 3 pages of questions. Then I had a 3rd interview where they told me the director position paid $13/hour. I was making $20/hour, so I couldn't take that pay cut, especially for a Director role. It was disappointing.
- Can you describe yourself using three adjectives?
- Can you share an instance of a challenging situation you faced at work?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?
Salon Manager
I had a quick phone chat with the District Manager, and then they had me come into the salon for an in-person chat with the Regional Manager. Both managers were super friendly and easy to talk to during the interview. They asked me about 10-12 questions, mostly about the stuff I listed on my resume. The whole thing only took about 15-20 minutes, so it was pretty quick. After my interview, I got to meet the team working that day and they offered me the job right then and there. I asked for a day to think it over before I let them know what I decided.
- Pick something in this room and try to sell it to me.
Tanning Consultant
It was a 30-minute interview. They asked basic questions. You need to have energy and be quick on your feet when answering, knowing the balance between talking too much and not saying enough. I ended up getting a Salon Director role later on, and these are the things I look for. Dress appropriately for the interview. Have a strong work ethic and ensure sales is something you genuinely enjoy. If you can't multitask, this role might not be for you. Be ready for questions about your strengths and weaknesses. It was a really in-depth interview for minimum wage.
- Can you share a bit about yourself?
