Registered Nurse
Got a call from a hiring manager for an interview. It was a panel interview with 3 hiring nurse managers from different units. They asked me a bunch of questions, like personality ones and how I've dealt with tough patient situations. They also asked clinical/situational questions about labs/orders for a patient with DOB & chest pain, and a patient on Lasix. All 3 managers were great and made me feel comfortable. Just brush up on your nursing basics!
- What is your patient monitoring strategy before and after administering Lasix?
- For a patient presenting to the ED with chest pain and DOB, what interventions would you anticipate?
- What is the treatment protocol for a patient diagnosed with blood clots?
Medical Technologist
Since I had to travel from out of state, the interview was conducted over the phone. I spoke with the supervisor because the manager was away. It was a pretty straightforward interview. I didn't hear back for a couple of weeks, but they did get in touch after about a month.
- How do you manage stress?
Software Support
I was hired via a third-party agency. The recruiter's first question was about my familiarity with Cerner modules, and I listed Power Notes, Power Charts, First Net, and CPOE. After that initial call, the recruiter said they'd get back to me once they submitted my resume to the hiring manager. They did follow up after a couple of days to let me know the next step, which was completing paperwork for a background check and drug test.
- What Cerner modules are you familiar with?
Neuro Nurse
The manager presented a patient scenario involving chest pain and shortness of breath and inquired about the appropriate medication. We communicated directly with the unit manager. We were not given the option to select our preferred position.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 2 and 5 years?
- What medication would you give to a patient presenting with chest pain and shortness of breath?
