& Process

The interview process had 5 parts, all of which were productive and important. The first interview was a 20-minute Skype call with my acting manager. The second interview was in-person and focused on cultural fit, feeling more like a casual chat. The third interview was a practical test involving hands-on experience with the company's software and platforms. The final two interviews were in-person meetings with company higher-ups, also more like relaxed conversations than formal interviews.

So the first interview was a 30 minute call with the recruiter. It was a mix of getting to know each other and a technical assessment. They told me a bit about the company, just one sentence on the actual role, and then asked some yes or no questions before we went straight into a live technical assessment. Usually, when I do these live assessments, it's with an engineer and it's about seeing how I'd collaborate and problem-solve. This one was kinda awkward though, the recruiter was super quiet and didn't really respond to me. I'm not sure if I was supposed to just solve it silently or talk it out. It wasn't a super hard problem. I didn't get to ask any questions about the role, so I left with no real info and a not-so-great first impression. I tried following up after, but never heard back.

The interview process is pretty fast. The first part is a 45 min behavior interview with recruitment. Then there's an hour long behavior/verbal technical assessment with a more senior engineer. You'll hear back about moving on to the next stage in about 1-3 business days. I didn't make it past the second round. The second interviewer seemed like a nice person, but their soft skills were lacking, as they came across as pretentious.

So I wanted to share my experience with this company's interview process. Basically, after I responded to HR saying I was interested in an interview, I never heard back. My emails, even the follow-up, were opened according to Gmail, but HR just ghosted me and didn't set up any interview. It's weird why they'd reach out about me in the first place if they weren't going to respond.
