It was a quick process. I talked to HR over the phone to go over my resume and background, and they asked standard questions about the interview process and company culture. They then asked me to email my availability for the next week. They set up a 45-minute call with the hiring manager. During the call, we went over my resume and background again, focusing on relevant experience. It seemed like a relaxed and pleasant chat. I asked thoughtful questions to show my interest and curiosity about the brand. When I followed up two weeks later, the HR person informed me that they weren't moving forward with my application because the hiring manager felt I didn't communicate clearly and frequently needed to repeat myself. I was quite surprised to get any feedback at all, as HR usually doesn't provide it. However, I was even more surprised by the feedback itself because I don't recall being asked to clarify things more than once. I was a bit put off by that comment, but it is what it is. They ended up promoting someone from within the company.

The first round was with HR and it went great, they thought I was a perfect fit and that my experience covered all their needs. I was really excited. Then the second round was with the hiring manager and it was the weirdest interview ever. I usually can tell how an interviewer is feeling by their body language, but I couldn't read them at all. Also, they had to end the interview 15 minutes early, which I felt they should have told me about sooner. In the end, they didn't move forward with me because of my 'experience' for the role, which is the opposite of what they initially told me. Super confusing. But Tapestry is a great company and I'd love to apply again sometime.

The first interview was virtual and went well with Jason. Even though I wasn't at my best, I was surprised to be invited for a second interview. This second interview was in person and I felt it went well. I don't have luxury experience, but I have years of experience managing teams and clienteling with shoe brands. I thought I had the foundational skills to excel in the role, but then I was ghosted. I sent a follow-up email but never got a response. I suspect they hired someone with less customer-facing leadership experience but more passion for philanthropy.

I interviewed first with the store manager, then had a phone interview with HR, and after that I met with the regional manager. I got offered the job after two weeks of back and forth communication between the store manager and I. The interviews were all very laid back and comfortable.
