Behavioral Presentation

I interviewed for a senior role and it was a really great experience, super professional and human-centered. Lindsey, the recruiter, was really empathetic and responsive, which was a nice change. The whole process was well-organized and took about five weeks from start to finish. I met several key people who were smart and passionate about their work. There was a presentation, but it wasn't too much. StrongDM made a very generous offer, but I had to decline due to personal reasons. It was a tough decision because I really respected the company, the people, and the process.

I was contacted by an internal recruiter at strongDM. Despite normally not replying to recruiters and being content in my current position, the recruiter's description of the company culture and the role was quite appealing. We had an initial interview, and I was really impressed by the recruiter's approach, their understanding of the company's values, and how they are lived out daily. I was then scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager, but unfortunately, another candidate accepted an offer that same morning. The hiring manager personally informed me about this development, showing great warmth and care for the candidate experience. I would still be very interested in working with them.

It started with a recruiter call to check for cultural fit, which was laid-back and nice. Then, I had a ticketing interview where I had to figure out how to deal with given tickets. After that, there was a technical interview where, because of the product, I could work at my own speed to fix a problem, and the team watched to see how I did. The recruiting team kept checking in with me for feedback. The next big technical step was setting up the product from scratch for a specific need. This involved reading pretty much the whole technical manual over a weekend. I set up different situations and really enjoyed it, learning the product and realizing I liked it a lot! This was a game-changer. I then presented my solution to the whole support team and answered their questions. Later, I talked to the recruiter again about salary expectations. The VP of People (HR) also spoke with me to ensure we were aligned and to give her approval. A few days later, I received a formal offer with a couple of days to accept or decline.

Had 5 interviews over 3 weeks, but the VP ended up overriding the whole team's decision and picked someone subjectively, not based on skills or experience. They also promised a specific interview format which they didn't stick to, even though it was a documented ADA accommodation. The VP rejected me despite unanimous technical approval, violating the accommodation without any real technical reason. After this, some executives blocked me on LinkedIn, and the company's marketing falsely claimed to support neurodivergent people while discriminating against me.
