Instructional Designer
The interview process took several weeks and involved multiple rounds, with each interviewer often asking the same or similar questions. Many questions focused on workplace conflict, which started to make me feel uneasy about the role.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a conflict in the workplace?
Product Manager
Got rejected halfway through the on-site. Seemed unfair because they seemed to prioritize saving time over giving candidates a fair chance and respecting them. While people seemed nice at first, they turned out to be caricatures of negative emotions like rushed, insecure, cold, fake, and arrogant. Having two product sense questions isn't a good idea as it's impossible to answer both well in the time given. They'll struggle to find good PMs if they keep treating candidates poorly.
- Imagine you're a PM at Netflix and see a drop in homepage engagement with users opting for search. What steps would you take to fix this and what changes would you propose?
- As a PM at Strava, describe your decision-making process for choosing whether to build an integration for a specific hardware platform.
Software Engineer
I applied through a direct internal referral and went through two rounds. The first round was a 1-hour Hackerrank coding challenge, which I found to be easy to medium difficulty but a bit unclear. The sample test case didn't seem to match the problem statement. The second round was a 1-hour phone screen technical interview. The interviewer started by asking about my background and then shared a Hackerrank link for live coding. I tried my best to pass all test cases, but I couldn't. I explained my thought process, but I think they had higher expectations for an intern.
- Given a string, remove K characters to obtain the substring with the maximum possible length.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was pretty standard and well-organized. It started with a recruiter phone screen, then an interview with the direct manager, followed by an interview with the branch manager. The final step was an interview with the chief people officer. Since I was applying for a remote position, most of the interviews, except for the branch manager one, were conducted virtually.
