& Process

It started with an hour-long phone screen where we talked about my skills and background, and they gave me info on the company and current projects. It was pretty conversational, not really a test. Then I had two in-person interviews. The first day, I met with different tech team members who asked a bunch of questions. They let me really dive deep into my past work. There were some questions about architecture and algorithms, but they weren't too intense. After that, I met with one of the founders. They told me a lot about the company and its mission. That part was less technical, and they wanted to know what I'm looking for in a role and what kind of work I enjoy.

The Founder and I connected on AngelList and then communicated via email. After that, we had a phone chat, and then an all-day team interview. Overall, the interview process was straightforward and pleasant.

This was a 2.5 month process with two phone interviews, a full day onsite with the senior team, and a follow-up interview. It was about 10 hours total. I was told multiple times I was the best candidate. A VP emailed that an offer was being prepared while a senior officer was on vacation. The salary package and VP title were agreeable, but I needed more details. I tried to follow up several times but was ignored. For a senior role and the time invested, a response would have been appreciated. Common decency. In retrospect, it raised concerns about direction and leadership. Met some good people though. Startup environment, so I guess that's expected. Good potential, but they need a senior marketer/team to speed up growth.

Started with a phone screen, then a coding assignment to do over a few days. It took about 30-60 minutes. Then I had an onsite interview that lasted about 3-4 hours. First, I met with my manager to go over the business. Then I chatted with the lead architect about my assignment answers and past work. After that, I met with the tech team (4 people) in pairs for whiteboard/technical stuff, asking standard algorithmic and Python questions. Finally, I had a brief chat with a founder before wrapping up.
