I was asked to do some free work for a client for a real event. The task included creating an Event Logo, Direct Mail Postcard, Webslide, and Display Ad. They also wanted the packaged files. After I submitted the work, they ghosted me.

It was three interviews total. I liked that there weren't any unpaid projects. I feel like I didn't truly understand the role until the last interview. I got an offer at 5pm on a Wednesday through an email that looked really spammy. No one called to check if I got it or if the start date worked for me. I had to email the recruiter for info on benefits and to make sure the email was real. The recruiter never called, all communication was via email with very brief answers. I didn't really like this and the company's Glassdoor reviews are mixed. It all felt a bit sus, so I declined the offer.

After I applied, I got an email a few days later for an initial screening. We chatted a bit about my experience and what I wanted in a job, then scheduled a phone interview for the next week. The day after the phone interview, I got an email to come in for an in-person interview. We talked about the job role and expectations, my experience again, what I was looking for, and Stream's company culture, then I got a quick tour of the Malvern office. They explained the hiring process and mentioned they wanted to hire someone soon, so I should hear back by the end of the week. I got the job offer by the end of the day.

I interviewed with two people in account services, one of whom was a VP. Instead of a conference room, we were in an office, which was pretty awkward. One person sat behind his desk, and the other sat to my left typing notes the entire time. It was distracting having to look back and forth to make eye contact with both of them. A conference room would have been better. The good part was it was more conversational than intense. They also told me why everything is orange there, saying it's a passionate color and they 'bleed orange.' You really have to be all in on your enthusiasm for that kind of stuff. After the interview, one of them gave me a tour, trying to sell the place. I didn't think much of it, it felt like they were just showing off how 'innovative' their environment is. The open office, long desks, small hangout rooms, and stage for town halls really gave off that vibe of 'look at us, we're so cool, we offer free snacks so you'll work harder.' After all that, no one bothered to reply to my follow-up email about the position's status. It's basic courtesy to at least reply and say if you weren't selected, especially after I took time off work, researched, prepared, and drove to the interview. The fact that neither of them could be bothered tells me this isn't a company I want to work for. I encourage them to look at how their entire interview process is conducted, especially the follow-up.
