First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stratolaunch.
Aerospace Engineer
The interview went really well, they even gave me a tour of the facilities, which was a cool way to see what they do. Everyone I met was friendly and seemed interested in getting to know me. The only snag was with expenses – they said they’d cover my stay and mileage, but after I sent in the receipts to HR two weeks ago, I haven’t heard anything back or gotten any money, which is a bit of a bummer.

Mechanical Engineer
I applied and the recruitment manager contacted me. They were super nice, gave me compliments, and explained the company and benefits. Then, I had a virtual chat with an engineer. It was casual, and they asked me one technical question. I thought I messed it up, but they still invited me for an onsite, which was supposed to be 3 conversations. I declined because I got an offer elsewhere.
- Can you describe methods for converting rotary motion to linear motion?
Engineer
The process started with a recruiter call, followed by a phone interview and then an in-person interview. I spoke with both the recruiter and the hiring manager. They provided a summary of benefits, like a good 401k and education support, and I had to sign an NDA. They were quick to respond and wrap things up. They kept me informed the whole time.
- Questions about engineering fundamentals and exercises on a whiteboard.
Structural Analyst
Applied online, then had a phone interview with a recruiter, followed by a zoom interview with a technical recruiter. I suspect there might have been another stage after that. They require signing an NDA, which limits what I can share about the specifics. They asked technical questions, and the technical recruiter was incorrect on one of them. I confirmed this, even though it was a basic question, and realized they're essentially giving engineers a technical quiz and grading one answer wrong. They even mentioned that many candidates get this wrong, which is clearly because the recruiter was mistaken, not due to engineers failing a basic quiz.
- Can you describe your technical experience?
- Questions from a technical quiz.
