Case

This hiring process went on for over 6 months. The hiring manager didn't even show up for the in-person interview, which was the last of the three interviews, and there was no explanation given. After that last interview, I was ghosted, and the recruiter never replied to my messages. I finally got an automated email saying they weren't moving forward with my application, and that was 3 months after the last interview. Honestly, it was the most unprofessional hiring process I've ever been through.

I did two interviews for this role, and then there were one or two more after that. The HR team was very responsive and professional. The first interview went well with a nice and professional interviewer. The second interview was the worst interview ever; I was stressed, and the interviewer, a Senior Partner, talked with colleagues while I was answering and even left the room at one point. It was uncomfortable, and I didn't know whether to continue or wait for him. I think it was a tactic to destabilize me, but it put me off the company because I expect to be treated with respect, even in strategy consulting.

Behavioral Case Technical Presentation

The interview process involved two rounds. Each round had three 1-hour interviews. Round one featured a personality/fit interview, a qualitative case, and a quantitative case. For the personality part, it's crucial to connect with the firm's focus on commercial due diligence and strategy. Understanding the nuances between strategy and management consulting, and how CDD projects are brief yet intense while strategy work is deeper, is key to articulating your interest in S&. The qualitative case was a typical interview-led M&A case, so standard practice should suffice. The quantitative case included a challenging guesstimate and a lengthy but simple multiplication task, assessing speed and accuracy. The partner round was more focused on personality. Each interview in the final round included lighter cases like a guesstimate, an industry discussion, and a standard case within the last 15 minutes.
