First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Storyful.
Intern
It was a two-part interview process. The first part involved a test related to geolocation. The second part was an interview with the hiring manager, who was very direct. They asked about my prior experience with digital verification and my capability to write in a wire style. They also inquired about any additional information I had regarding social media platforms.
- Which news events would you be interested in covering?
- Tell me about your previous digital verification experience.
- Describe your ability to write in a wire style.
Journalist
It was a 3-round process. First, two hiring managers interviewed me, and then the EIC. There was also a copy test, which was challenging but manageable. The interviews themselves were brief, under 30 minutes each, and mainly focused on discussing my past work.
- Can you discuss your experience working at ______?
- What led you to join Storyful?
- Describe your process for verifying information.
Insights Manager
The hiring process started with a phone screen with a recruiter based in Ireland, followed by a one-on-one meeting with the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager was unexpectedly cut short. The manager indicated that if there were any unaddressed questions, I should email her. I sent an email with a specific question that couldn't be asked due to the interview ending abruptly, but I received no response. I followed up again, including the internal recruiter on the email, but still no reply. I decided to email both of them one last time, this time requesting feedback. The only feedback I received was a generic statement that I didn't meet the criteria, with no specifics. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.
- What about this role interests you?
Journalist
The interview process was lengthy and felt repetitive, with multiple interviews that didn't seem to progress understanding of my candidacy. It felt like after two or three interviews, they should have a good sense of who they want, but they appeared indecisive. The lack of communication from their side was also a problem. Their HR team seemed very disorganized, which makes me wonder about the professionalism of the rest of the company. I really hope others don't have this kind of negative experience.
- What's your understanding of Storyful?
- What is your current role?
- Can you describe your current responsibilities?
