Bartender
The interview process was really fast. We mostly talked about my past work experience and my availability for different shifts, like late nights and mornings, and how flexible I am. They also asked how I'd deal with customer service.
- Can you share your experience in bartending and your motivation for pursuing this career?
- What availability do you have for shifts, and how flexible are you with working late and morning hours?

Front of House
So I went for an interview at Walkabout Glasgow and it turned out the interviewer didn't even have my CV. It wasn't her fault at all, it was pretty clear management just dumped the task on her without prepping her. This immediately put me in a tough spot, and I felt like they weren't taking me seriously. I'd actually put in the effort to customize my application and get ready for the role, so it was a real bummer to be met with such chaos. To make things even worse, I got a standard rejection email later with zero feedback, even though the interview itself wasn't even fair from the start. It just left me feeling brushed off and deflated. If this is how Walkabout treats potential hires, it doesn't say much about how they treat people in general.
- Regarding your hospitality experience, can you tell me about it?
Marketing Executive
Had a recruiter call first, then got a task to do a 30-min presentation. They send you brand guidelines and stuff, and you have to create a marketing plan for an event and then present it. The interview itself is an hour long. The people were nice and seemed interested, but it's a lot of work to do for a job interview when you're already working full-time. They said they'd call me either way. Got an email two weeks later that seemed like it was for someone at the very beginning of the process. It was really blunt, almost rude, and just a total waste of my time.
- What are some examples of marketing campaigns from other companies that you admire?
Kitchen Assistant
I was interviewed in the customer area at Yates York, which lacked privacy and had people walking around and listening, making it an uncomfortable setting. The interviewer seemed very disinterested. I was told I'd get an answer in 2 days, but after 9 days, I called and after receiving a lot of incorrect information about when the person would be in, I was informed they'd given the job to someone more experienced, despite the advertisement stating no experience was necessary.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?
