Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at STMicroelectronics.
Engineer
The interview is technical, about an hour long, with two interviewers, conducted online via Teams. Be ready for technical questions. We prefer energetic people because the line of work is super hectic. Salary can be negotiated if you're the right candidate.
- Are you willing to work overtime?
Engineer
The interview had two parts: a technical interview with three engineers and another one with HR. The interviewers were friendly and asked about my skills and knowledge. The questions were not difficult, mostly focusing on my past projects and general contributions.
- What led you to choose stm?
- Can you elaborate on your skills and knowledge in this field?
- Could you describe your previous projects and your role in them?
Design Engineer
Candidates submit applications online via the STMicroelectronics careers site or job boards. Qualified folks get a coding challenge from HR. Those who ace the test move to a pre-screening with HR to discuss experience and motivation. Next up is a technical interview with the hiring manager and a senior engineer, checking technical knowledge and problem-solving. Passing that leads to a behavioral interview with the hiring manager and HR, looking at communication and cultural fit. Finally, a chat with a department head or exec assesses alignment with company strategy. If all goes well, HR and the manager decide on an offer for the best candidate.
- Describe your technical problem-solving methods. Tell me about a tough project and how you got through it.
- How do you keep up with software engineering trends?
- Can you share an example of a challenging project and how you overcame obstacles to finish it?
