The office décor was really unappealing, making me want to leave before the interview started. It was a dump for a PR firm in NYC. The office was packed with harried employees at 8 am on a Friday, some looked like they had been up all night pitching. It was pure chaos. The 'HR' person who scheduled the interview called me initially, but then forgot to return my calls and emails to schedule a meeting, which was unprofessional. After I tracked her down, it took about two and a half weeks to schedule the appointment. The interview process was basically a cattle call, meeting as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time. The Managing Director was the only nice, seasoned PR professional in the conference room.

The interview process was okay and not too difficult. The company seemed more focused on increasing media impressions rather than a strategic approach, and worked with many gimmicky clients, the 'As Seen on TV' type. This might not be the best place to advance your career in communications. After 10 years in the industry, they offered me a position but at a salary 30k less than I asked for and 15k less than I was currently making. You have to pay for talent if you want to attract it.

I was interviewed by 4-5 people, they just surveyed me to make sure I didn't have any boogers hanging out my nose, and that my pants were buttoned. I too read the reviews before interviewing but decided to check it out for myself. After the process I was made an offer where I would probably lose money, given my commute to the location. Sham company, shame on company.
