Business Development
Applied on Glassdoor; heard back about 3 weeks later. The first was a video screening with someone who never turned on his camera. 4 interviews and a 45 minute presentation (and 3 hours+ prep time) later, I was sent a generic rejection email. This after receiving very positive feedback from each interviewer and them saying what a great addition to the company I would be.
- Can you present on market segmentation and outline strategies for selling into each of those segments?
Executive Assistant
Leora from LinkedIn reached out to me about the job I applied for and we had a quick phone call the next day. She was really excited about me and wanted to know why I was looking for work. We chatted about the company's growth and how I could help out in different areas. Then, I had a second interview with someone who had only been there for five days. They asked a lot of basic questions, which was easy since I have 15+ years of experience. This person said I was a great fit. Next, I interviewed with someone in New York who'd been there for three years. She loved the company and gave me lots of compliments, saying I'd be useful in the role. Finally, I met with the CEO. He was late and seemed really disengaged, like he was doing other things. The interview only lasted about seven or eight minutes, and he looked distracted. I followed up with Leora because things seemed to be moving fast. I sent a personal email to her and also thanked the CEO. Instead of a personal response, I got an automated LinkedIn message with no explanation or feedback. It was surprising after four interviews in 10 days to get an automated message instead of a personal one explaining why I wasn't chosen, especially since automated messages are usually for people who don't pass the initial screening. I think the interviewers should be trained not to overhype candidates, just be more chill.
- Can you tell me about how you organize your day?
Director
So I applied and the CEO reached out less than 24 hours later and wanted to wrap things up in about a week, but it ended up taking over a month. I then had 4 interviews with directors, all 30 minutes long. They were late and didn't have structured questions, and only one person seemed to have read my resume. Interviews ran short, so I could barely ask questions. I had to send follow-ups to move things along. Finally, I had a 60-minute presentation after spending 2-3 hours on it, but the interviewers hadn't reviewed my submission. They gave me an offer higher than expected, but I had a bad experience with their product. I asked for another Q&A with the CEO about growth and my product experience. He got dismissive and deflected blame. A few hours later, my offer was rescinded via email because they needed someone with more "conviction." I disagreed in a follow-up, telling him he should thank me for finding a product issue. This experience confirmed reviews about the CEO's temper tantrums when challenged. I would not recommend working here unless desperate.

Director of Digital Marketing
First up was a super quick Zoom call with HR, which felt a bit sketch because they didn't have their video on. Then I had a Zoom chat with someone who would be my colleague or reportee, where they mostly just went over my resume with not many follow-up questions. After that, another Zoom call with a Director, again focusing on my resume with minimal follow-up. The next step was a final project where I had to come up with a digital marketing plan for Nurses month. It was pretty vague and I had to figure out all the details myself. Finally, I presented this plan to people who had interviewed before, but the CEO, who was supposed to be there, bailed last minute.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Develop a digital marketing strategy proposal for Nurses week.
