3D Animator
I was contacted and told I had been selected. The company had an onboarding system that involved completing an animation test in two parts. After that, they had me sign an NDA. I did everything they asked within the agreed timeframe. Once I uploaded the files for the first part of the test (blocking), I received excellent recorded video feedback with tips and guidance for tackling part two. I worked hard to polish the animation, address all the notes they gave me, and — most importantly — give it my all to secure the position. After uploading the second part to their platform, they acknowledged receipt and then proceeded to ghost me. I ended up adding the animation to my portfolio.
- For the company's onboarding, you will be asked to complete a two-part animation test.
Animation Technical Artist
Need to know the software "Unreal Engine" or other tool, well with experience. Knowledge in 3D software like Maya, Blender or 3ds Max, is good. Knowledge in shader, materials and Texturing as well is a plus.
- How many years of experience do you have?
- Tell me about your experience with Unreal Engine or similar tools.
- Are you familiar with 3D software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max?
Production Assistant
It was a conversational interview with the Studio Producer and an HR person. They mentioned that for entry-level production roles, they can teach you everything, so attitude is key. To build rapport, they want to see an authentic connection. Be open and honest about your goals at Steamroller and your vision for growth. It also helps to show you've already taken steps to imagine yourself in the role.
- Which animation do you like the most?
- Can you share your general experience?
- What are your plans for growth?
Gameplay Programmer
I applied online and got an email pretty quickly asking me to do a Zoom meeting. The team was really great. They talked about what they're working on and what my role would be if I got the job. Everyone was super nice and respectful. It was easy to chat with them because we liked the same stuff. It felt like a technical screen after an initial recruiter call.
- Can you tell me about some projects you've worked on?
- Would you describe yourself as more of a backend or front-end developer?
- Do you have more experience or are you more comfortable using Unity or Unreal?
